I blew it.

May 23rd, 2006 at 10:57 am

Well ,feeling sorry for myself, I went shopping. I didn't need anything but bought away. I lost a good chunk in my 401K and other investment accounts this past week. My savings, coin jar for the moment seemed useless, dust in the wind. So I bought so I could feel something for my money. I will use what I had gotten..but.....restrant on my part maybe would have been better. My dear little budget reminders I have on in my budget program are screaming at me. There is nothing like having your computer say to you what you are already telling yourself.

Dust yourself off and get back on your feet. These things happen to everyone! You'll rebound. Good luck!

Don't beat yourself up. We all do this. Can or would you return your purchase? Would it make you feel better if you did. Sometimes I get more of a frustration release when I return an item. My girlfriends say I am a shop and return gal. I am now getting a great feeling when I just simply pass up a purchase that I thought would make me feel better.

Just get back on track you know you can because you have done it before.

Try not to look at the stock market too much. It has these pull backs at least once a month but usually it makes back a majority of the "losses" within a few weeks (provided we're not in a recession). If you check now it has made back some of the losses just from last week already. Plus I bet you made some hellacious gains in April, so the drag in May kind of evens it out. Plus since the share prices on mutual funds and stocks are a little lower now, when you do invest in June you'll get more shares than if the price hadn't dropped, so in the long run you'll be O.K. since the stock market will eventually go up again...it always has.
