Gym Membership

June 22nd, 2006 at 10:15 am

We joined a gym in February for my sons who wanted to weight lift and work out. My employer paid for half our membership and it was bascially only for the kids. We had to get a family membership to get them both on and in. (with the employer paying half was a great deal) my husband and I did not plan on ever going. But, I am trying to manage my health this summer and was told to start doing cardio and some weight lifting so I started going to the gym. It's great and I feel great. I almost feel like I'm cheating and getting in for free.At first I felt intimidated with all the young people there but I forged ahead anyway. I do see people my age and shape there when I looked deeper. I feel an ole pro now zipping in and out, jumping on machines without haveing to read all the instructions and figureing out how they work. Now if I can get my husband to go we just might retire healthy and in shape???

I hear you! I just started my gym membership last October, at the age of 57. At the one I go to there are a lot of retired people, so I don't feel out of place. I am feeling so much better. It costs about $300 a year, which is a good rate; still, it hurts to pay it!
